Still So Much To Do

Ryan is currently sleeping and now that I’m back to a normal schedule, I still don’t know what to do first! All weekend I spent down time from the Sunflower Blanket, when I would run out of yarn that is, and play Mariokart 8 for WiiU “with” my husband. He was kind of a turd about it. I used to play games I was terrible at all the time with him and he would always win! I’m not sure why or how I’ve grown out of my motion sickness while playing Mariokart but I’m not complaining! When the Nintendo 64 came out I remember playing it a lot with my friend Ashley. We would have sleep overs at her house and we’d play for hours. Back then she would always win and I never had the nerve to tell her a video game was going to provide barf on her floor out of sheer embarrassment! Back then I was self conscious of everything, coming from a judgmental and competitive home life, and now, I’ve come to terms with who I am, what I can handle, and everything else goes into the complaint box.

It was nice to act like a twelve year old again, only during nap times of course, and play video games for two hours at a time. I would love to play some more, but MarioKart is an active breading ground for my foul mouth.Lately, I’ve been supplementing such words for duck or poop instead so that my son doesn’t repeat his fantasy-gamer-road-raging mother especially after he’s started sounding out the “ck” noise and others that have me nervous.

Instead I have to put together a couple of Free Pattern Friday’s for this coming Friday. I am going to do one from a sewing pattern I made up for my son’s “Lamby” blanket (that he MUST have or can’t go to sleep), and a crochet accessory. If you have any ideas for designs, but don’t know where to start, ask me, we can come up with a way to create your idea.

Plentiful Designs Sticks Up For Other Artists

I’m actually pretty peeved about this next topic. I am just as competitive as the next artist but can take the good with the bad and be a good sport if someone chooses another design over mine. No big deal. However, if you are looking to scam artists, I will call you out.

Just recently, actually Friday, (after our huge scare on Thursday which I’ll post on after this one)I had submitted artwork to designcrowd.com to an individual seeking designs for a line of zodiac symbol clothing that they were looking to put out. I have a screenshot of what they said they were looking for below:

Under the Task Description they said that they needed a set of 12 zodiac signs for what I explained above. They went on to say, three times no less, that they wanted it to be an aggressive style tattoo tribal design. Now, I can completely understand if they didn’t know what that meant, as in they didn’t know what it was they were actually looking for or if they didn’t know that all designs have different names, schools of art, etc. I completely understand if that’s the case.

Just for clarification, the aggressive style tribal tattoo designs are essentially and most commonly black. It is a line design that depicts movement, and generally looks like this:

However, I have a pretty good feeling that we all got scammed. Let me first show you the set I came up with:

And if you really need to see the sketches, I will have them up in my online portfolio: http://plentifuldesigns.deviantart.com/ within the hour.

I worked fairly hard on these over the course of a couple days considering being a stay at home mom rarely has a significant amount of down time, unless baby is sleeping. Each one of them took maybe 20 minutes to sketch and 5 minutes in Photoshop to “path” them and color them. The thing that irks me the most is when a non-artistic person has the balls to say that all the designs were clip art, which all of the artists that had submitted have to sign off on that it’s their own work. It can’t be undocumented clip art, it’s just not allowed. So when you look at the highlighted writing in the first screenshot where they say and I quote, “If I was looking for generic clipart, I would just download it myself. I have searched at least 50 000 images. I know generic when I see it!” That shit legitimately pisses me off! Seriously who do you think you are?

Normally I don’t even apply to a job that doesn’t have a payment guarantee because it gives room for loopholes to the morons out there who scam artists because they have the balls to, but I did. I’m sort of kicking myself, but at the same time, IF YOU ORDERED THE CHICKEN AND GOT THE CHICKEN, DON’T LIE TO MY FACE AND TELL ME IT’S NOT CHICKEN!!!

Ever Find Yourself…

…trying to get rid of a crafting item you think is just scrap, and then realize the perfect project for it after you’ve used the majority of it and will need to buy more just to finish this new item? Well, I’m in that boat right now! It’s somewhat disappointing but more aggravating than anything else. Granted, I really did want a wildly stripped surfboard blanket and orange really was perfect for it but  all of this per-summer heat has me already thinking about cute original crochet designs for the fall. At least I’ll be somewhat ready for it, you know four months in advance, but it never seems like that.

Speaking of something else I never gave a thought to being… On Wednesday, I’ll be turning 30! Woot! I’ll take “the dreaded three zero,” any day as a reference to my late night post on Mother’s Day about my psychological age four years ago. Does anyone actually know why people dread “30?” Honestly, it will be ten straight years of my favorite number (#3) being in the mix…aside from that, I’m not really sure what the big deal is. I’ve been grown up since at the very least, eleven, so if its a fear of responsibility,it doesn’t phase me. I’m actually curious. Maybe, someone can enlighten me?

I feel like I’m skipping around a bit again. When my son goes down (since my iPad is a schitsophrenic) I’ll post later about some of the crochet projects I’ve come up with and start gearing this blog more to inspire DIY crafters, new parents, family and friends who are celebrating new life in their families and would like to give one of a kind gifts from the heart my one of a kind shop. Also, keep in mind that I can make everything crochet piece in my shop to any size, so if anyone of any age would like an item or to design on for themselves, let me know, I’ll be happy to work with you!

Slowly But Surely…

I have been starting to update listings that I had posted and renewed throughout the last couple years, not really updating them even though they needed to be. It is a tedious task but needs to be done. I just finished the safari invites and thought that maybe I should even go as far as posting them here. These designs were made with parents who wanted something special for their kid’s birthday parties over the years:

Baby’s up! I will have to post again later. 🙂
