My Art Has A Meaning: Still Life – Single Shell

shell_logo

Title: “Still Life – Singe Shell”
Medium: Digital Painting
School of Art: Realism
Original Size: 5″x7″
Creation Date: 8/17/2012

This still life was actually created as an original acrylic painting on canvas board that I had enhanced in Photoshop since I felt the colors in the original were flat. I liked the idea of giving it an illumination glow with more oranges and peachy low lights as this was a way for me to reconnect with the light I love to find at the beach. Just because I was no where near the shore, doesn’t mean that I couldn’t recreate it’s summer beauty here. The way the shell glistens reminds me of the sparkling water crests under the golden sun. The cool navy blue background is flat to signify singularity. The shell is grounded by not being centered, and this helps exaggerate a constant reminder of imperfection.
